Myself and 2 other travelers rented a Ford Escape with a roof tent from camping cars for our 10-day trip around ring road. The 3 of us fit in the roof tent. We enjoyed the car, it was reliable and the perfect size for the 3 of us and luggage. The roof tent was convenient and comfortable. Camping Cars sent email updates informing us of bad weather areas daily so we knew what to expect when traveling. When we arrived, they picked us up from the airport and quickly set us up with the car. They gave us some information regarding hotpots, gas stations and weather reports. The car came with a mobile hotspot which was extremely useful while traveling. Before we left they provided information about traffic laws and driving in Iceland. When we arrived we asked about propane tanks and groceries. The staff was extremely helpful and even gave us some free things other people had donated. All in all, it was an extremely good experience. I would recommend camping cars to people who want to travel around Iceland on a budget.

We had a great experience using this rental company. Two of my friends and I rented a vehicle with a rooftent for 10 days to do the ring road in Iceland. We had no trouble with the car. The rooftent is meant for two but we were able to fit three. The last few nights one of us slept in the car comfortably and the other two in the tent. The people working for the rental company were great and very accommodating. Our first day we were picked up at the airport and drivin to the rental place. The guy who picked us up was very friendly and gave us great tips for our trip. I would definitely recommend this company and would rent through them again. Reasonable price and the wifi included was a bonus.

Hired a 4×4 Duster from Camping Cars for 10 days in the middle of winter – wanted something that would be good for getting around the ring road no matter the ice and snow. Then realised maybe I shouldn’t have hired a rooftop tent in the middle of winter…! Turned out very well though, the sleeping bags from Camping Cars were nice and warm, and the canvas on the roof tent happily keeps the weather out. The car itself coped perfectly with the snow and ice, and I think the jeep-style is more fuel efficient than a camper-van shape. Spent most of the time listening to audiobooks on the stereo via bluetooth – had the wifi router from Camping Cars and don’t think I ran into a signal deadzone along the ring road. Kitchen box is well enough equipped for basic cooking, but most campsites had an electric hob to use anyway. Would definitely recommend Camping Cars.

My experience with Camping Cars was amazing. It allowed for my wife and I to stay warm during the days as well as have so much extra comfort at night with all the extras we were able to hire. We saw the ring road of Iceland and many other extra sights in a week due to the amazing vehicle we were able to hire.

The car is exactly what you need = reliable, clean, spacious The car has a lot of miles on it but everything seemed as good as new= suspension, tires, a/c. I traveled by myself for four days and drove about 966 miles around all of Iceland – including the west coast – through the rain, the mountains, the valleys and the gravel roads. This car is the car your uncle would lend you = Safe, reliable, and well driven but not concerned about cosmetics flaws.

Camping Cars was fantastic and a great way to see Iceland. The service was friendly and the car was great – surprisingly comfortable sleeping on the top of the car. Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling through Iceland.

We ended up switching to a manual Dacia Duster with a rooftop tent and absolutely loved it! Such a wonderful way to explore the country. Our two year old daughter loved it too!

Very friendly people at the car rental. The Grand Vitara was no the newest, but probably still one of the best in its class for Icelandic roads. The tent was pretty comfortable. Highly recommended.

Camping cars was excellent. picked up at airport on time then drove short distance to pick up car which was very good condition for age. the roof tent was very good and easy to put up and down. we also got quite a few tips on route we were taking and a few pointers on places to go that I did not read about. The wifi was also a great help for navigating. I would certainly recommend them and would use again.

Great car to do the circle road and gravel roads. In the end, we didn’t take the f roads but if you want, you can do this. The tent on top of the roof is easy to set up, just 1 minute and easy to take down, max 2 minutes. We went in June and during the day the weather was great but at night it cooled down to approximately 5 degrees. Good sleeping bags are therefore highly recommended 🙂

We loved our Dacia Duster, the helpfulness of the staff and the camping package offered. We had a terrific 4 day visit and would love to return. The wifi was great as we were able to take pictures and share with friends and family on the go! The car was all 4×4 yet easy to drive like a normal car and had plenty of space and comfortable. I must admit my partner knew them from 30 years ago and was apprehensive but found it a great car now.

It was amazing, experienced great amount of freedom, and the car even though it was a little bit more on the used side, it performed excellent. The biggest drawback for me was the lack of ability to interact with the sound system, bluetooth, aux-input, or otherwise, it would have made the trip that much more excellent. My experience with the company could not be better. Friendly people, ready to help you at any time, comprehensive with last minute “things”… So far is the best experience I ever had when renting a car 🙂
